Coaching And Instruction

Power of Music provides coaching and instructional materials for St. Louis public elementary school (music) teachers in a program that utilizes ukuleles in the classroom. Techniques for modern approaches to music theory will assist teachers in exceeding minimum state standards (GLE’s) at grade level.

We're Donating Ukeleles

Through the generous support of our donors, we are donating sets of high quality ukuleles for the elementary classrooms in the St. Louis Public School district. By providing quality instruments that the students can use with our program, we aim to instill the spark of the Power of Music into their young lives allowing them the opportunity to grow into accomplished musicians as they develop.

Our Mission

Power of Music provides access to music education instruction, training, and materials for elementary schools in disadvantaged programs in metropolitan St. Louis. Our primary goal is to help young people experience a quality musical and philosophical education. Removing economic barriers through teacher coaching and support (both material and financial) will stimulate students’ personal, artistic, and academic growth through music.

 

We have begun coaching participating metro St. Louis public elementary school (music) teachers in a program that utilizes ukuleles in the classroom. Techniques for modern approaches to music theory will assist teachers in exceeding minimum state standards (GLE’s) at grade level. Vocal and instrument instruction, private lessons, and ensembles will all become available as capacity increases. Our goal is growth to middle and high school aged students as the program unfolds and students progress in subsequent years.

 

Our staff of instructors and coaches receive ongoing training and perform regular program assessments. We encourage collaboration with academic teachers and music teachers so that they can fully realize that Power of Music will reinforce student health, learning, and development in all areas.
